Baltimore Chesapeake Bay and Philadelphia Outward Bound Centers will provide trainings and certifications to help professionals gain the skills needed to be an Assistant Instructor. The internship is a three-month intensive program that teaches professionals the Outward Bound philosophies, the technical skills and the interpersonal skills needed to become a solid assistant instructor.

A stipend of $500/month with room and board will be provided. Although Interns primarily live at our base in Baltimore, trainings and programs will occur at both the Baltimore and Philadelphia bases. Travel is provided between the two bases for all staff. Interns need to have a passion for both the outdoors and for making a difference in the lives of urban youth.

Trainings depend on the season but may include a WFR (Wilderness First Responder), WSTAR (Wilderness Safety Training & Aquatic Rescue) or similar water certification, Instructor Judgment training and more.

Qualifications:
» Desire to work with urban youth in the outdoors
» Able to participate in scheduled trainings and workshops
» Able to participate in scheduled expeditions
» Must be 20+ to apply
» Must be able to pass OB swim-test
» Must Clear Background and Motor Vehicle Record Check
